Questions:

1. But apparently we already did have classical?
2. So Hikaru is not the 2nd WFRCC but the 1st rapid WFRCC and then Wesley So is still the current classical WFRCC?
   1. Note 1: No one caught up after losing in classical (‘slow rapid’) portion in the 2019 WFRCC: In the 2019 WFRCC, did anyone catch up in a match after losing in the ‘slow rapid’ (classical?) portion? i.e. Since no one who lost in the classical portion caught up by winning enough of the non-classical games, I can say each match of the 2019 WFRCC that had a classical portion was decided by the classical portion, unless the classical portion was drawn.
   2. Note 2: Wesley So never lost a single classical FIDE FRC or WFRCC game…the only of which can be found in the 2019 FIDE WFRCC. 14 games no losses – longest classical 9LX streak in FIDE games

= 6 in quarter-finals – did not lose to 2 games each to Hikaru Nakamura, Peter Svidler, Vladimir Fedoseev

4 in semi-finals – did not lose to Nepo. Even beat Nepo 2x in a row.

4 in finals – did not lose to Magnus. Even beat Magnus 3x in a row.

My opinion:

I believe we must give respect to both Hikaru Nakamura and Wesley So. They not only won but dominated WFRCC in each of their respective time categories. I won’t say Hikaru’s not a WFRCC, but I won’t say Wesley So isn’t either. They are both WFRCC’s in different time categories.

GM Larry Kaufman ( hissha ) told me:

• Yes, 45 + 15 is classical tc, but not ratable as such for masters, unless rules have changed. So a grey area.
